Burning 1L every 2,000 km — normal or walk away?

Some engines sip oil by design; others are ring/PCV disasters. Check for smoke on cold start, spark plug oil, and PCV valve. Buying used: oil on the dipstick every week is a no for me. Your line?

I walk if it’s a quart every 1,500 km with blue smoke. Light sipping with no smoke on some engines is documented — still negotiate price.
